The Backstory
Years before the Jewish Women’s Theatre was created, there existed the now defunct Jewish Women’s Theatre Project (JWTP). JWTP was created by Odyssey Theatre Literary Manager Jan Lewis in the late 1990s. Ronda Spinak had met Lewis when she became a reader for the Odyssey. Spinak was a founding board member of JWTP and the fundraising chair for many years. She also originated and produced the 2002 At-Homes: New Play Salon Series for the JWTP. Ellen Sandler wrote for the JWTP as well as directed several pieces for them including a piece for the Los Angeles EdgeFest and the At-Homes: New Play Salon Series. Deena Novak served as Associate Producer of the At-Homes: New Play Salon Series as well as worked with props and costumes for several productions, including Hairpieces.
