JWT gives voice to Jewish women in America today by developing original works, by ensuring these works are performed and seen, and by creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

We believe that theatre begins with the written word, and therefore, ours is to be a writer’s theatre and the play is to be the genesis of all our work. To this end, we nurture the development of material that might not be created without our solicitation and support, seeking out accomplished writers and encouraging them to explore their Jewish identity and create from their hearts.  We believe that by establishing a home for such material, JWT expands the view of Jewish women and furthers Jewish culture.
